I’ve always wondered just how many bees are needed to fill a jar.

Hi Hannah,
On average, a single honeybee produces only a small amount of honey in its lifetime. A worker bee, which is the type of bee responsible for honey production, typically produces about 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in its entire life. However, this amount can vary depending on factors such as the bee species, environmental conditions, and the availability of nectar sources. Despite the small individual contribution, collectively, a colony of bees can produce substantial amounts of honey, with some managed colonies yielding tens of kilograms of honey each year.
